APT
Expect everything at this upstairs and basement hangout. Some nights are all suits and ties and others are packed with a big gay disco party. Upstairs looks like a svelt Pottery Bar advertisement and downstairs a futuristic library, without the books. Drinks are pricy, but twice as thick.

Ava Penthouse Lounge
Street is not an ideal location for anything, but atop a building on 55th Street is. The terrace bar is one of few in NYC, and here DJs spin good vibe music. The mix of tourists and locals, gawkers and scenesters makes for a fun night. Not too pricy, but not cheap either.

Clancy’s
Crowds of European and UK expats pack the place during Premiership games. The bar staff is friendly with thick accents and the pints are large. Chips and pies are served up hot and heavy for those wanting a snack.

With the Fulton Street fish market a block away, you know the seafood is fresh. Patrons drink 32oz. beers from Styrofoam cups and the ceiling is covered in bras and underwear. The game, whatever it is, is always on.
|
Lit
One of the few NYC places that stays true to the downtown attitude, Lit is frequented by punks, models, business types and hip- hoppers. The basement feels like a high school party and often people get as drunk. Dirty and packed.

Potion Lounge
If the bubbling blues walls and illuminated discs on the bar don’t make you feel like you’re in a 1960s film version of the future, the cocktails, or 'potions’ as they’re called here, will. You’ll find all the standards of a high-end bar here, as well as some house specials. The Ocean Potion – Malibu Rum, Blue Curacao and pineapple and lime juice – will have you talking like an MI6 agent in no time.

Pravda
Once the toast of the town, this high-priced swill joint has mellowed with age and now is quite a nice spot to sip delicate drinks and munch on caviar. The interior still leaves a dramatic impression with its arched golden ceiling and comfy, worn- leather chairs.
